It has become a longstanding joke in our family, that Colby can not draw a turkey tag. He has put in for the past 7 years and has not drawn. My mom has drawn and killed two turkeys in that time. He has even went to banquets and tried to buy a tag. This year, Colby finally drew.
We drove down to Monticello early Thursday morning. The kids are such good travelers. Hanks even got his second bottom tooth on the way down. It wasn't there that morning, and that night is appeared. That night, we scouted and rode the 4-wheelers. The next day was again spent scouting and playing around. Hadlee went on many hikes with grandma. They are two of a kind. They look at every rock, tree and snow bank as they go. They pick up the weirdest things and think they are the biggest treasures. The only problem is that Hadlee has no fear. She goes off my herself and doesn't care if anyone is following. Sometimes the only way you can see her is her bright blond hair. The weather wasn't the best. The snow was so high, that we couldn't park in our normal camping spot. The wind blew the whole time. I can't tell if we are all sunburned or wind burned.

The hunt opened Saturday morning, and Colby killed his turkey at first light. My Dad, Chance, Trevor and Lindy were all there. My mom and I were back in camp with the kids. They said it was perfect and that the Turkeys came in, just like they planned. One shot and he had his bird. We have been down there so many years and know just where to go.

That afternoon, we drove down by Blanding and went shed hunting. They have found sheds, previous years in this area, but we had no luck.

We then drove down to a lake and let the kids throw rocks in the water. Of course it became a contest. Trevor, Chance, and Colby, all trying to hit some rocks, way out in the water, with a rock. Later, they all complained of their arms hurting. (Stupid Boys)

We had a great weekend and a lot of fun. More than anything, it is just a fun family tradition. A fun camping trip. Can't wait til next year.

Cute pictures. I am glad he got one and you all had fun. I missed you like crazy. I hate being left out on family things. Someday we will have a trailor.

Oh, by the way, Bo wore his helmet during each section of the event. He was just screwing around when he didn't have it on. Either way, YOU ARE RIGHT! He should always be wearing it.
Congratulations Colby on what looks like a fine turkey. What luck - only seven years. Your family is always lucky like that! What a fun family outing.
That is alot of CAMO going on! I am loving the bandana, you should sport that look more often, like when your just hanging out at the park or cruising Target. Love it. Josh drew out for turkey this year too, along with my dad and brothers, what fun!
